Sometimes change is bad. :(

I remember before, I had a post that showed me downloading at like a megabyte a second. *sigh*

I still have the problems with graphics on both WoW and GW, with no idea what the problem is. I’ve updated drivers and everything. WoW support have told me to do a memory test, which could take hours so I might do it for when I got to bed. A small part of me wants the memory test to find an error, so I can get it fixed. But at the same time, I don’t want Toshiba to take him again…

I’ve actually done a lot of revision today. That makes me even less nervous. I was shocked to see that my first exam is Friday though… it’s a computing resit. I haven’t actually looked at it at all, to be honest… Tomorrow I shall though, and make sure that I understand all the terms in the specification. As all exams, you only need to learn what they want you to learn, even if it’s not relavant.

What else have I done today… Oh, I’ve started reading a C++ book, which my computing teacher lent me. It’s… huge. I got bored at first, where it’s teaching about variable types and stuff, which I already know. I’m reading it though, since I may miss something C++ specific that’ll confuse me later on in the book.

I suppose I’ll go to sleep now. Wake me up at 1100, when the server is back up.

What. The. Frack.

Update: Apparently, my .dat file must have gotten corrupt, so I have to download all the images again… Got help from some unnofficial GW forum.

Update: That didn’t fix it. I just downloaded all the images again only to realise that the game works perfectly when not maximised in widescreen… I guess I file a ticket.

Guild Wars not quiet working...

Here’re my options. These worked before Toshiba took niimo in.

Pfft.

I mean, I’m level 20! I shouldn’t be pwned so much by a mob of level 14s. Granted, there are a lot of them, and those Tengu move sodding fast. And that hex that I keep getting infected with – the one where I lose energy every time I hit – is a bitch and really doesn’t help.

I’ll keep at it.

1. Don’t leave home without your keys

Whenever I get to a new area, one of the first things I do is go and buy two keys for that area. Well, if I can afford it, that is. Later in the game the keys get a little expensive (compared to Ascalon’s 50 gold) and I’m usually not walking around with three platinum, but if I am, then I do buy some keys.

Always having keys helps since you can always open chests, obviously, and sometimes you stumble upon chests that you’re not likely to see again (just because the game doesn’t take you in that area again). You’ll save yourself a lot of time when you’re going for the chest hunter title.

Oh, if you’re stinking rich, get lots of lockpicks. Then you can go for the luck title at the same time.

2. Don’t underestimate the level eights.

I’m trying to get the Pathfinder title and noticed that there might be an area of fogginess that I can get to in the Flame Temple Corridor. No big deal, just some level eight Chars to run through. I added henchmen, just because they were there, really. At the time I was quite confident I could take them all myself.

I was actually intending to just run threw them all, once again with an air of authority and an idea that they can’t touch my level 20, superior Ranger. I ran through them all, and well…

The moral: even if they’re a low level, still take them seriously. Even when they drop five gold.

3. Don’t run away.

You’re attacking a group of five Hydras, when suddenly a Devourer pops up with a group of Jade Scarabs. You’re already wondering if you can handle all of this when your stupid henchmen agro another group of Hydras. Joy.

In this situation, I advise you to stay and fight. Don’t run! Running is certain death, at least from that many bad guys. Hammer Troll Unguent (or whatever) and pray that your henchmen do their job. Focus on pick one off at a time, starting with any foe that can heal. Make sure you’re working together; press control and space to get your henchies to attack the same guy too.

You’ll most likely die, but hey at least you’ve taken a few of those Scarabs out.

4. Don’t go back to that outpost, just to get your moral back.

You’ve been running north through Talus Chute, Ice Dome and the Frozen Forest for the last hour and still no outpost. You’re at -40%, your monk died a little while ago and you’re just surviving with Reyna and Orion. Might as well head back to the Ice Caves, ne?

No! If you go back you’ll have to spend hours slaying all those monster’s again. -40% ain’t that bad. I know people that love their DP and don’t feel right playing without it. Plus, Copperhead Mines aren’t that far away. Just push on a little longer.

5. It’s okay to hoard your crafting materials.

I’m sure it’s not just me that feels like I have too much wood, or whatever. Don’t carry it around with you, put it in your warehouse. You’ll be happy you kept it when you get to Cantha and see the sexy Shing Jea stuff.

6. Invest in your primary profession.

There’s a reason PvPer only have one profession; your secondary is really there just to… Well, I don’t know why it’s there but it’s fairly useless. Stop spreading your atribute points over both and put them all in your primary profession. There’s no point in being a half decent Warrior, and a half decent Necromancer when you could be an awesome Warrior. You’ll notice how much more powerful you are quickly.

I’m so close to getting the Tyrian Explorer title. I decided to take a break though, since I have revision to do.

Oh, from the feedback I had from the LiveJournal Guild Wars community, I dropped the illusions magic and replaced it with Apply Poison; it’s cheaper for me to use and deals more damage, which is good. It also meant I could allocate all my attribute points to just my archer skills so I’m much stronger now.

I’m saving up for better armour at the moment. I can actually afford to head back to Cantha and get it now, but meh, I have a destiny to full fill first.

I set out from Lion’s Arch, so I only had a part of six, all level 12 henchmen (except me, who’s level twenty). How was I supposed to  know that you’re supposed to ascend and then you can do the mission much easily from a different outpost with eight in your party. I mean seriously, I’ve been doing that mission for the last three and a half hours.

This is what happened when I was trying to get through the Black Curtain.

This scene consisted of me yelling at the stupid henchmen for running into the water. Then I saw the mob that was coming to the mountain, towards me and changed my mind. The water was the only way to go really. Made it across though, thankfully.

In fact, I made it all the way through the swam! I was incredibly chuffed after the 50th sodding Fog Nightmare, flanked by Spined Aloe. Then my henchmen were dispatched by the two Forest Minotaurs. Kujo and I survived though!

From then on, I spent the next two hours or so argoing a set of minotaurs and then running away like mad whilst they chased, and killed them off slowly by casting Conjure Phantasm when my 16 energy charged. If I was lucky, they’d get distracted by Kujo and I could fire at them a few times.

My aim was to charge my signet. I knew you could do that by getting a moral boost, but I didn’t realise you had to boost it to a positive figure till I checked the Wiki. Damnit. I had gotten my moral up to -25% as well. Then I tried to kill the tree things and they just pwned me.

With my -40% moral, I decided to just run like made to Galrath. No prizes for guessing how that turned out. So, three hours into the mission, I’ve given up. Maybe when I’ve ascended, eh?
